Read good, Eat better!

Updated: May 2, 2022

Two of my favorite past times are reading and trying new foods. What's the connection between them? Well, there is something intriguing about both escaping within the pages of a novel and creating a new experience through the scrumptious curiosity of sampling.

Firstly, I'd like to make it clear that in no way am I a certified food critic; however, I do enjoy a good meal. In this post I'm going to share a few dishes I'd recommend as well as one of my recent reads that I dub "book of the month". With that being said, shall we dine?

Let's dive in!

Filet mignon

I found this dish to be quite enjoyable. The meat was tender while the savory flavors mixed to create a thoroughly satisfying meal. Would I say it is overrated? Not necessarily however, it's not a dish of my preference. It won't be my first choice at dinner. I selected a red wine to compliment my meal.

Escargot

This delicacy can sometimes come across as a bit intimidating and even unpalatable to many persons. Initially, I was a bit skeptical to try it but when I did I was delightfully pleased. In fact, I ordered it twice as an appetizer. The taste was definitely different from anything I've tried. I'd happily recommend to anyone who hasn't tried it before.

Fish burrito

Ladies and gentleman there is nothing quite like the fish burrito. This is perfect for if you want something that's filling but not too heavy. Creamy dressing and fresh tomatoes covered golden chicken to create a scrumptious and unforgettable zest! Simple, affordable and satisfying courtesy of the bar and restaurant "sol y luna".

Boiled eggs

You can't go wrong with good ole boiled eggs. This simple and quick snack can be eaten as a breakfast item or anytime throughout the day. I sauteed onions, bell peppers and mushrooms and placed them on top the split boiled egg. Finally, add black pepper or paprika and voila! You're done, enjoy!

My choice for the book of the month is "The Midnight Library" by Matt Haig.

The Midnight Library is about Nora, a thirty-something woman who is regretful about her life and feels alienated and unneeded in this world. In the depths of her wallowing, she comes across the Midnight Library. In it, each book represents a portal into another variation of what her life could have been.

I really enjoyed this book. Haig took an interesting approach when writing this novel as it incorporated elements that curated a successful plot residing outside the proverbial box. The progression kept me intrigued throughout the entire novel with its unexpected twists and turns. As the plot thickened, I found myself just as curious as the main character. The imagery and diction were splendid while the plot itself was creative and unique. The storyline galvanized my imagination as it created an inquisitive fantasy that stimulated the "what if" factor. This read was definitely a thought provoking book that persuades thinking patterns coerced by curiosity. Ultimately, I became so entangled within the story that I was eager to find out what would happen in the end. Overall, it is a great read that sparks the imagination.
